Urgent action needed to condemn Russian use of cluster munitions in Georgia

Human Rights Watch, Landmine Action's partner agency in the CMC, has confirmed the use of the RBK-250 cluster munition in two strikes that took place on 12 August, killing 11 civilians and injuring many more. This use comes just three months after 107 nations adopted the Convention on Cluster Munitions, comprehensively banning the use, production, trade and stockpiling of the weapon.

The UK played a significant  role in ensuring that the negotiations of the new Convention were successful and Landmine Action now urges them to publicly condemn this use by the Russians.
